Hypocrites, part one

You should be banned, by law, from using one argument to justify your beliefs, and then trying to ban others from using the same argument on another topic or belief.
For example, I have heard people say "Homosexuals are born that way", and later say something along the lines of "humans shouldn't eat animals, they are above that."

I finally got around to replying something like: "Hey, look in my mouth, I have these things hanging down, they get in the way when I'm eating carrots. Do you know what I am talking about?"
nooo... (that was the reply)
"They are my canine teeth, you idiot! I was born this way, now leave me alone."

It worked! For now...

But of course that's not fair of me; I mean just because you have pointy teeth doesn't mean that you have to use them.
WHAT?!?!
That sounds just about the same as being equipped for heterosexually and not using it that way. Yup, it's hypocrisy, and it gets old.

The Death Clinic of Doom and Despair and All Other Uncomfortable Happenings

So I am severely allergic to cats. And dogs. And about everything, come to think of it, but cats are definitely the worst, and none of the others cause me physical discomfort on a regular basis. I am in the process of getting desensitization shots for my cat and dog allergies at our local "clinic". If all goes according to plan, about a thousand needles from now I'll be cured!
But there is one littles problem. A "hitch", so to speak, in my "giddyup".
They have a cat. Oh yeah, they have a cat in the same medical facility that is supposed to cure me of cats.
So do they get rid of it? Do they apologize? Do they care??!?! He'no they don't! I get to wait outside for them to get around to giving me my shots, and then I have to wait twenty more minutes-outside- for them to come out and make sure that I haven't died from the concentrated allegens that they finally got around to injecting into my arms.
I write all this because today they took an hour and ten minutes (their record is one hour and twenty eight) to get around to injecting me (a process that takes a whopping 42 seconds) and it was freezing outside.
This is not an exaggeration, it was 29 degrees, and it was windy. It seems that their secretary failed to mention that I had arrived FOR MY APPOINTMENT, and since it takes all of two minutes (on a slow day) to prepare my shots, they must have been much too busy to attend to me. I watched no less than seven different people enter (get healed, or whatever) and leave the building during my wait. It's comforting, watching the walk-ins get taken care of; inside; where it's warm, while you stuggle against your benodryl to stay awake, and knowing-deep down-that this all is for the best.
Needless to sat, they are not on my good side.

Musical Preference

So there I was, sitting in the lunchroom, picking olives off of my mexican-ish food substitute, when I looked over and lo(!), there was a kid putting tarter sauce on his pizza. How can this be, thought I, that is wrong, gross, and distinctly un-American. I demanded to know what the perpetrator was doing, accusing him of civil unrest and culinary harrassment. His reply? "It tastes good to me, you should try some."

THE HELL!??!?!?!!! There can be no way that that stuff tastes good, and besides, tarter sauce is for fish. But there it was, solid proof that unencumbered and at least moderately intelligent people can like the oddest of things.

...Which brings me to music. Can people actually really enjoy their country/rap/metal-core mixes? Is it pleasing to them? It must be, is what I am forced to admit, and for that I shall try not to judge too harshly, and focus more on skill than purpose. For now.

Dirt Chickens Everywhere!

This idea actually crossed my mind some time ago, and basically it goes as such...

Many Iraqi insurgents are dirt chickens. Hicks. Mysogonist, religiously fanatic, inbred, poor, ill-educated gomers. Yup, that's about it. It seems kinda weird, but I do believe it's the truth. I've heard some excusing of insurgent actions because of their "cultural buffer", but the truth is, if you ignored the fact that they were foreign, there would be little to no doubt in peoples minds that they were really a large group of violent dirt chickens, praisin' God and raisin' hell.

Rap music is bad

Today in my philosophy class we were shown an article on the fallout of hip-hop. The argument is that rap (if there's a difference between hip-hop and rap, I apologize) is becoming a misogynist, murder-supporting, ill-educated vendetta against the better values America possesses.
So hooray! Country music depresses people to suicide, and the blues break up marriages.
We were asked what we thought, and the consensus seemed to be that yes, rap is now a money-driven business, that yes, it promotes "bad things", and doesn't really help anyone.
This was a "good" response.
We were then asked if we were willing to make a stand against this bad thing. We wondered what in the flying frog brigade we were supposed to do about it.
Rosa Parks.
Yup, that was our answer. If it hadn't been for Rosa Parks single act of defiance, the struggle for civil rights just wouldn't have happened the same.
That meant nothing to me. Rosa Parks had all the right in the world to go against intolerance and degradation. She was forced to choose.
And us? We don't like violence, we seldom eat babies or small people, we aren't woman-hating, and we aren't about to make a stand. This is the same class that promoted open-mindedness towards gays, racists, and every sort of free speech out there. No, we won't make a stand; there's no sense to it. It's as if we were asked to say that yes, "this is wrong", and talk it down, but ignore every other aspect of intolerance and free speech. It's a complete lie. The point is always going to be moot. If people want to do something, then they're going to.
To argue about the right to argue is stupid, we should argue about better things... like uh... truth, justice, and uh, well, pizza.

Too short to ride this ride

Everybody should get a blog. Then they (everyone of those everybody's) should pack computers with them and show people just what goes on in their blogs. For instance, if you start a blog, get called on the fact that you got the idea from someone else, and then argue that "they're nothing alike, mine's pink", then everyone can instantly know what a true genius you are. In the small town I'm kept hostage in, there are three tyes of people: grown-ups, seniors, and other high school people. Just below people there are fruit trees, grass, and moths. Under that still you'll find 8th graders. They're so small! You'd need to stack them on top of each other five high to reach a normal high school height.

Abortion!

Are unborn babies alive? Are they even human? And if they aren't human, are they a vegetable or mineral? Can we eat them? Jonathan Swift said we could eat babies after they were born, so I'm sure it's ok. If the right to choose already exists, then why are there still huge promoters of the cause? I've walked into a Democratic booth before, and been immediately asked "where do you stand on the woman's right to choose?" Just where should I stand? Women have the right to abortion, that's not something I can change. Any time you try, you get called a sexist conservative prick. Odd, for people still trying to rally support for their won cause.

I've noticed in my short time on Earth that if you talk to some people about abortion, they tend to stick to two repetitious questions: "What about rape?" and "What if it's to save the mother?"

Fuggin stupid questions. Less than nine percent of all abortions, counting incest (!), fall into that category. If those must be preserved, then let them.

I've decided that getting rid of abortion as an option would be a massively good thing for America (not Africa, this is also a stupid argument: "what about in Africa with all the STD's?").
If you had to actually take care of your choices (some people call them kids, not to be confused with babies, you aren't allowed to eat kids) then you'd be much more likely to use protection,
and do crazy things like think before you drank. This would massively slow down the spread of STD's. It would be a much more efficient system, and just think; if women weren't pregnant, they wouldn't need their "right to choose", so there wouldn't be such big arguments that ignore the real question: Should poker be an Olympic sport?.

It's a win-win situation!
